Formación del proyecto ‘Sports at School’

Today we give the floor to our Physical Education teacher Lorenzo Marín, who is in Italy learning about the project Erasmus +:

“MIT School will participate in the European Project Erasmus + ‘Sport at school’, which will bring karate to schools in six European countries: Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Poland and Portugal, making use of the great educational possibilities of this martial art.

MIT has been one of the four schools in Spain selected to participate in the project, that will last three years (2016-18).

– During the first year, a comparison of the different national contexts is being carried on, along with the preparation of the training of the technicians who will implement it in the schools, as well as their preparation in Italy

– During the 2017-2018 academic year, our 2nd Primary students will carry out a motor-intelligence development program based on karate. The results of this project will be evaluated at a scientific level by the University of Padova (Italy) and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain), which will quantify the effects of the program on the physical and psychological development in childhood.

This methodology is totally innovative and was designed by Professor Pierluigi Aschieri based on scientific research in the field of neurology, pediatrics and physical activity and sport sciences, and based also on the good practices developed in the teaching of karate. It has been carried out in Italy through the “movi-mente” project with excellent results that are now intended to be extended through Erasmus + ‘Sport at school’, that aims to combat the effects of hypokinesia and sedentarism and to improve cognitive and academic levels”.
