Walking towards the sustainable city is the goal of the ALAs environmental agents program and at MIT School we are delighted to announce that we will join this important initiative as an associated educational centre for the next academic year.

Since the 2007-2008 school year, the project (which began as a European programme in 2003) has been carried out in Malaga, financed by the City Council through the Urban Environment Observatory and the Las Contadoras Nature Classroom, with the aim of measuring the contribution of the Educational System to the fulfilment of the objectives established in the city’s Agenda 21 from the perspective of sustainability in the efficient use of resources.

Our participation in the project will consist of a series of activities in the classroom and beyond, as the participating centres and individuals are committed to being agents of change in their community. Class will be devoted to work:

  • Saving and Rational Use of Water, and Saving and Efficient Use of Energy.
  • Waste Minimization and Recycling Promotion.
  • Sustainable Mobility.
  • Social Cohesion and Environmental Psychology.
  • Responsible Consumption.

Sustainability and care for the environment are priorities in MIT School’s educational project, so we are delighted to join this project.
