Every Tuesday, from October 16, MIT School students go to the municipality of Torremolinos to spend the morning swimming in the indoor pool Virgen del Carmen, in the San Miguel’s sports center. Its 50 meters long, 21 meters wide, two meters high and 800 spectators’ grandstands, make it stand as the best of its kind in the province, and that’s why it has been chosen by the institution.

It is clear that swimming is one of the most complete sports that can be practiced, as it involves all muscle groups. In children and adolescents, this sport is mainly aerobic and causes not only an active enjoyment of their leisure, but it is the most complete physical space for the development of the physical, psychological and neurological aptitudes, and has direct consequences on health. Therefore, it helps controlling body weight and maintaining blood pressure figures low, lowers cholesterol and blood glucose and helps increase physical exercise capacity in children, creating a better cardiovascular response. Of course, swimming improves flexibility, coordination, agility, speed and muscle strength, and even promotes socialization. And certainly stimulates fun!
