The General Director of Educational Innovation and Faculty Training of the Government of Andalusia, Pedro Benzal, visited  MIT School last Tuesday February 19. The aim was to see firsthand the “remarkable progress” that the center has achieved in the two years and a half since its open, thanks, in Benzal words, to its “new teaching methods in language learning.”

To achieve these results, more than half of the curriculum is taught in English in the lower grades, gradually and prudently, in order not to become a barrier for new students who do not have a high level of English. In fact, to support those entering classes with fewer skills in this language, MIT School has six native teachers in addition to the regular staff, who work as assistant teachers.

Thus, the staff of MIT School has a total of 16 native teachers who teach not only English, but also Chinese from age six (MIT is the only center in Spain with that language included in the compulsory curriculum), German from nine and German from the 12. Furthermore, 14 of the Spanish teachers have official titles covering Cambridge C2 (Proficiency), C1 (Advanced), and B2 (First).
