The summer of Christopher Gomez Vera has been hectic: camps, performances and, of course, the paperwork for the university, which will be exactly the one he chooses because he has got  no less than 9.57 in Selectividad! The MIT student, thrilled with the news, tells how was the process to get one of the highest marks in the province.

How did you prepare for the exam?

Selectividad must be faced willingly and with determination. For me it was not so important how many hours I spent studying subjects as maintaining an attitude of self-improvement. You have to psych that it is a major challenge in our training and you have to go for it.

Besides studying, how do you like spending your time?

I am a very active person, dreamy and eager to learn. That’s why I’m always thinking up new things to do. I’m in for all! I sign up to all the events that my village promotes (competitions, carnivals, meetings, races, dances, etc.), I am finishing 2nd grade in the Professional Conservatory, in the saxophone specialty; I collaborate with my old Elementary Music  School doing gigs in their theatre with my group, Golden Band; I participate in the Federación Oficial de Baloncesto tournament with the Cártama team and, of course, I leave some time off to keep in touch with my friends, go out and have even more fun!

How do you think that being a student of MIT has been helpful to get such high scores?

I come from a very bad experience with my old high school that gave me such a really bad time… But the friendliness, the treatment and the confidence that I have found here at MIT school  has sewn my wings again to soar into the higher. They made me feel comfortable with my studies again and made me feel confident when facing any challenge. I am truly grateful.

What degree do you want to start now?

I’ll do a double degree in Law and Criminology at the University Pablo de Olavide in Seville. Choosing a career is not easy for me, because I like to study almost everything, but I think this option will give me more opportunities when looking for a job  in the future, and covers many areas I really like. To know that what you are studying is what you really like to do is one of the greatest satisfactions
