1,500 members of the top national karate clubs participated the last weekend in the XXXVI Campeonato de España de Clubes de Kárate. During the competition, the members of the Club Goju Ryu Torremolinos -to wich several MIT students belong- represented all clubs in Andalusia and made history by winning four Gold medals and two Bronze. The championship was certainly the most successful one in the 36 years of history of the prestigious club!

In the Children Technichal Tests, the team of MIT students José Miguel Quesada, Alfie Bannister and Paula Quesada together with Nicolas Castellanos, Salvador Balbuena and Max Ramírez, was proclaimed champion of Spain -Gold medal. Their club mates also managed to obtain such a feat in the Youth Technical Tests, with a team composed by pupils Carmen García, Marta Vega and Álvaro Merida together with Yolanda Balbuena, Edoardo Paba and Oscar Ring.

In Junior Technical Tests, the team formed by members of MIT Margarita Morata and Antonio García, together with Jessica Moreno, Miguel Ángel Bernal, Irja Ramírez and Belén Padial made an impressive Championship of maximum technical difficulty and also became (and undeniably) with the Gold of the Spanish Championships.

The last first place went to the Kata Team category, thanks to the Alevín formed by Salvador Balbuena, Paula Quesada and Max Ramírez. Meanwhile, the Children Kata team, with Alfie Bannister, José Miguel Quesada and Nicolás Castellanos won the bronze medal, and the youth team consisting of Álvaro Mérida, Marta Vega and Carmen García  won a bronze medal too, after accomplishing a great championship.

Also, in Senior Kumite, the team of MIT teacher Víctor Perez, Miguel Martínez, Lorenzo Carlos Marín, Manuel Martínez and Jose Miguel Fernández tied in the third position with the almighty Madrid, and by just one point could not gain the Bronze medal. Congratulations to the whole club, you’re achieving an awesome season!
