Bachillerato Internacional MIT Málaga

MIT School is the first center in Malaga to offer the possibility of obtaining the Baccalaureat Dual Diploma. The program is aimed at students of 3º and 4º ESO and 1º High School, who get two degrees simultaneously: the Spanish Bachillerato, valid throughout the European Union, and the U.S. diploma, which allows them to continue their studies at an American university. Several students have already committed to this proposal, and one of them has even accessed to the international honor roll!

Through the innovative design of the Somerset International‘s virtual curriculum, and the constant contact with native American teachers authorised by the U.S. and accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the students receive a diploma with the same value that the one obtained by those whose attendance is face-to-face. Furthermore, Somerset is managed by Academica Corporation, an innovator institution in the field of Charter Schools in North America, and one of the largest in terms of number of schools and students.

The effort that students has to perform in order to finish the degree varies depending on the school year in which they begin and on their initial level of English. Normally, five hours a week is enough to go through the six subjects per year (four compulsory and two electives), in which no content already learned in Spanish is repeated -the 75% of the MIT subjects are recognised-. The most popular option is to consider the program as an extracurricular activity that students develop at noon or in the afternoon, like any other activity outside of school.
