MIT School students who participated in the 2nd European Youth Parliament

A few weeks ago, a group of MIT students took part in the 2nd Málaga Regional Session organized by EYP (European Youth Parliament). This was part of the regional meetings called the GA Days. In fact, during one day, schools in the region participate in a General Assembly defending resolutions assigned to them previously. Thus, students show their maturity level both when defending a resolution that is foreign to them, but that they must make their own, and showing their ability to argue their views in public and in English.

This last session have been a huge succes, in words of the organizer, Laura Sans Durán: “it was a real pleasure to organise this event, especially after witnessing such a high level of debating. I would like to stress this point: seldom have I seen such level of performance at a regional session. The debates were fluent and interesting, and it was clear to all of us officials that the students had clearly prepared very thoroughly for the session. All the participants deserve our deepest congratulation, as well as all the teachers who helped them prepare and made the session possible”.

The EYP works to achieve that the views of young people get to be part of the building of the future of the continent, promoting a European dimension that is not currently in their education. It also provides an opportunity for students between 16 and 22 years to participate in a forum without political connotations that invites them to be aware of the features and capabilities of other nations, to respect their differences and to develop interest in the democratic process and learn how to work for a common goal from an independent thought, and for all that, MIT School considers very important to participate in them.
