The MIT karate team doesn’t stop having success! To the recent triumph of Margarita Morata in the World Karate Championships, we must now add the many titles won last weekend in the Spain Karate Championship -Cadet, Junior and Under 21 categories-, held in Seville.

In the category of Kata Individual Male Juniors, the bachillerato student Antonio García was proclaimed champion by beating the  European Individual Champion from Madrid, Sergio Galan, in a very tight and vibrant final. He also got the gold in the Kata Male Team, along the Andalusian team formed by Luis Carmelo and Miguel Angel Bernal., also from Torremolinos.

Of course, in the Kata Individual Female Juniors category, the multichampion Margarita Morata won again the golden medal after making a splendid performance. She also got the silver medal together with her Kata Team, formed by Jesica Moreno, Laura Peguero e Irja Ramirez. The group were the favorite to win the championship, but eventually were disqualified in the final against Madrid.

But those are not the only good news: MIT students Margarita Morata and Antonio García, part of the Goju Ryu club in Torremolinos, have also been chosen for the Spanish national team, in order to participate in the upcoming European Championships, to be held in Turkey in February 2013. On the other hand, Lorenzo Marín, also member of this club, got a praiseworthy forth place in Under 21, because he lost the bronze in a tight 3-2. The school is very proud! A big congratulations to all!
