To program a robot and to see how it works. To create software for drawing. Or maybe, to devise a little game for everyone to have fun at the computer. Those are some of the possibilities of the Scratch Day, a global event sponsored by the Masschusetts Institute of Technology in which are scheduled simultaneously more than one hundred meetings in different cities across the world. During them, the kids share technological projects and experiences, and learn more about Scratch and the new ways of learning.

But what exactly is Scratch? Is the name of a simple programming environment specifically designed for children, which allows to easily interact with the computer and learn to program. With it, MIT intends to initiate them into robotics in a fun way, offering them the first experience of pre-engineering performed in a school in the province.

The Stemxión technology education center is co-organizer of the Scratch Day, to be held on Saturday May 19 from 10:00 to 14:00 in the center’s facilities. It is an open meeting, with free access to both students and external participants. The whole family can join the activities!
