Mr. Rojas, Philosophy teacher at MIT School and president of the FICUM Association (Association for the promotion of philosophy and culture in Málaga) carries out, in collaboration with the Instituto Andaluz de la Juventud, the activity More Plato and less bullshit. MIT School students will take part on it, along with several schools in the province.

This activity, for the students of 2nd Bachillerato, consists on the hand out of the Plato’s classic The Symposium, a book that, together with the Phaedrus, gave birth to the idea of ​​platonic love. Afterwards, there will be a brief talk during which the importance of critical thinking will be emphasized in order to overcome the impersonal discourse of the majority, the superstitions and deceptions, and young people will be encouraged to choose with bravery and autonomy their own ideal of good life. Besides, the talk will emphasize the importance of saying no to drugs.

Finally, and following the School’s filosophy to offer an integral based and individualized education to each of our students, the short course will end with an interview with a psychologist-educator to whom the students may ask questions of any kind in public or privately. This will give young people the opportunity to freely express personal concerns at the school, although they will also be offered an e -mail to contact this professional at any time for free.
