brigada forestal INFOCA

The students in 3rd and 4th year have made a new excursion outside school to learn more about their environment first hand. This time, the chosen location was the Aerobase of Cártama, where they have learned how the firefighting system works in Andalusia. They have been explained how a fire starts, how to turn it off, who is involved in its extinction, which are the human and technical means used for controlling and extinguishing forest fires, how the research to find out the fire causes is developed, what prevention efforts are made in the mountains of Andalusia…

In addition, students have visited the facilities of the Special Brigade, and have seen the material in the Aerobase: hoes, helicopters, fire hydrants pumps, vans adapted to be weather stations… All this will help them to better understand what they have learned in class, and will raise awareness about the causes and consequences of fires in nature.
