Margarita Morata y Antonio García in El Noticiero de Torremolinos (16/01/2013)

MIT students Margarita Morata and Antonio García continue reaping success. Both are karate Champions of Spain and Morata even got the bronze medal with the Spanish team in the world championship. Now they have also been crowned champions of all of Andalusia,  with gold medals in both individual kata and team kata!

At the same competition, MIT professor Víctor Perez took the runner-up title in combat under 75 kg, and Lorenzo Marin, also a member of the Torremolinos Club Goju Ryu and closely linked to the school, took the silver medal in the kumite mode in weight under  67 kg.

However, the high-level sport does not leave much time for celebrations: on February 1st, Morata and Garcia will train with the Spanish Team to prepare the European Championship in the categories Cadet, Junior and U21, which will take place from 7th to 10th February in Konya (Turkey), and in late February they will participate too in El Ferrol (Galicia), in the Phase I of the Spanish Absolute Karate Championship. Congratulations to all, and let’s go!
